HISTORY
Polipropileno del Caribe S.A, PROPILCO, was formed
in July 1989 as a company dedicated to the production of polypropylene.
It was created by Petroquímica Colombiana S.A., pioneer of the Colombian
petrochemical industry for more than 25 years, and the Bavaria Group, leading
Colombian brewing company.
In 1990, Propilco started plant operations using
Unipol PP Technology with an annual capacity of 140,000 mtons. In
1999, due to the demand increase of polypropylene, its shareholders invested
on a second production line. In October 2001, Propilco
started a second plant using Novolen Technology with a capacity of 180,000
mtons/year.
Although Unipol technology worked successfully, the
introduction of the Novolen technology allowed Propilco to expand its product line to meet
the market challenges.
At present, we offer more than 80 polypropylene references
among homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers. We offer
products for the different customer transforming processes as well as
for specialized applications.
In order to expand the array of solutions to our customer's needs,
Propilco created Comai. Comai is a company that produces polypropylene
compounds, masterbatches and special additives for different applications
and industrial transforming processes.
